It was Jaidens last day of EIU for the year and Christmas party yesterday.
Jaiden, Lachie, Lorelai and i arrived with the kidlets all very excited about the prospect of Santa coming to visit after a special Christmas morning tea, as we walked through the gates i saw an upset looking Jenny dissapear into the classroom and some of the parents milling around having a serious looking discussion, another parent was inside the class room talking to one of our local heads of the Education department with tears in her eyes. I sent the kids off to play wondering what on earth had happened. When i joined the serious looking discussion i found out that this lady from the department had rocked up this morning on the kids Last day and announced that they will be closing Gilmore EIU and that our kids will be split up next year between two other schools. Jenny will be sent to teach another group of children in a different area entirely and apparently everyone will just have to adapt as there is nothing they can do.
Everyone was upset and outraged about this as we had all been gaurenteed places and same teachers (you guys all know the importance of routine) and to find out now.. Even poor Jenny had no idea it was coming.
Jenny carried out the session really well considering and the kids had a great time eating, playing pass the parcel and overdosing on lollies. Santa arrived and it seems must have found the fountain of youth as he appeared to be 20 something he proceeded to give all the children presents (more lollies). It was quite amusing when he asked one little boys name and he replied "Liam" Santa says "Oh really? Thats my... um my friend... Mr Clauses friends name! Um HO HO HO.. heres your present." Amongst fits of laughter from the parents, so Santas real name is LIAM not Nicholas! At least if he had to stuff up it was the right group of kids to do it with!
There were some tearful very final goodbyes to the teachers more from the parents than the kids, we all credit our kids overwhelming improvements to the wonderful teaching skills of Jenny and Cathy, the great support they have offered to all of us and the genuine love they have shown our children over the year and they will be greatly missed. We all promised to stay in touch and organized to have a get together on the first day of the school term next year 4th February at a local kids centre. So next year its off to Bonython EIU as well as Big Pre-school for us, and Liam will be in Kindy, oh time flys!

Oh Katie, that is so sad! Jai is going to miss his Jenny! I can only hope that he bonds with his next teacher as well.
I am really tired of our cold sloppy weather, can I come live with you over our winters from now on? :) xxoo Heather

Ah Heather, where i am the weathers not that great - it tends to range from 5 degrees to 40 degrees (sorry cant convert to F )in the one day - im in a jumper and slippers right now contemplating putting on the heater!
That is such a bummer! I bet it was so sad saying goodbye to Jenny. It's so tough letting people go who are so good at what they do.
I'm so sorry to hear about the changes with the teachers and school placements etc...that's got to be hard when you were expecting one thing and then had no notice they were changing it around.
That stinks, I am sorry to hear about that. I did like the pictures from the party, looks like it was a good time.
